SUMAS, Wash. (AP) - Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, is looking to ship its garbage to Washington or Oregon after a landfill closes next year in the province.
The Bellingham Herald reports officials are discussing possible contracts with Rabanco and Waste Management.
Rabanco would ship the waste to its Roosevelt landfill in Klickitat County, in south-central Washington. Waste Management would ship waste to a landfill near Wenatchee or the Columbia Ridge landfill near Arlington, in eastern Oregon.
A decision is expected in September.
