LEBAM, Wash. (AP) - More than 30 volunteers have come to the tiny southwestern Washington town of Lebam to help build a community church.
They've been working all week in the town of about 170 people between Chehalis and Raymond on a new home for the nondenominational Lebam Community Church, which had outgrown its old building.
Pastor Steve Jones says it's exciting and touching that people from throughout the Northwest would donate their time and labor to help out his church.
Many of the volunteers are part of Northwest Christian Builders, a group affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention that has helped build more than 50 churches in Washington, Oregon and Idaho over the past 35 years.
