OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - A state Department of Natural Resources official says fire crews continue to fight 39 fires in northeast Washington following a lightning storm.
More than 75 fire starts were reported in the region after Thursday's storm.
Guy Gifford of DNR's Northeast Region says the largest fire still burning is just over 2 acres. No structures are immediately threatened.
DNR spokesman Aaron Toso says no evacuations have been ordered.
A fire crew has been dispatched to the Colville Indian Reservation to oversee the firefighting effort in the region. The department has deployed 200 firefighters, 30 fire engines, five helicopters and a 900-gallon air tanker to douse the fires and monitor the area.
