PASCO, Wash-- There's a special walk this weekend in Kennewick designed to bring awareness to suicide prevention. It's the first annual Walk About to Talk About Suicide Prevention.
Thursday, leaders from the Benton Franklin Task Force were busy planning the one mile walk. They hope it brings a lasting message to the community.
"What we want to get out is there's something we can do about this," says Kristi Haynes, field coordinator. "We can make an impact on people's lives. We can get the message out that there's help... Thoughts of suicide."
Haynes says so far this year there have been 19 suicides in Benton and Franklin counties. The walk starts this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Outback in Kennewick.
