The Health District got enough of the vaccines for over two thousand shots and over a thousand of the nasal sprays covering health workers. Leftovers will go to pediatricians and obgyns. Today's shipment is the second shipment for the District; they received the first last week and they expect the third shipment will finally be the one for young people and pregnant women.
"And we'll look at how much arrives in that and then give that also to the private providers the doctors offices in the community as well," says Heather Hill of the Benton Franklin Health District. "Hopefully be the end of this week or early next week well have doses in the doctors offices so that they can get it to their clients."
And the vaccines can't arrive soon enough. No deaths so far in Benton or Franklin counties; but, H1N1 killed two in Umatilla county last week.
So those at risk will have vaccines as early as this week. For the rest of us-- we still have to wait until at least the end of the month.Comments Terms of Use: We welcome your participation in our community. Please keep your comments civil and on point.
