Connell Starts Playoffs Looking For State Title

Posted: Updated:
CONNELL, Wash. -- The Big 9/Greater Spokane League Crossover Playoffs start on Friday and the 1A football playoffs are kicking off as well.

One of the teams to watch: The Connell Eagles are 9-0 and are expecting to finish on top of the state this year.

They have embraced a new training program designed to make them more explosive and quicker on the field.

Plus, they have finished second in the state 3 of the last 4 years. With that motivation, they never take a night off on Friday night.

"You know one thing I teach them," said Eagles Head Coach Wayne Riner. "I don't care who we play. It's Friday night. I don't care if it's your grandma and you're bowling against her, you want to win and that's how you take it. You be a competitor no matter what you're doing, be a competitor and you don't take any opponent lightly and these guys haven't."

Cle Elum visits the Eagles Friday night.
