Associated Press - November 17, 2009 9:35 PM ET

SEATTLE (AP) - The National Weather Service says the winds and rain splashing Western Washington eased Tuesday as a storm system moved inland.

But forecasters say a series of storm systems will roll through the region through the weekend.

Flood waters are receding in many areas. However, a flood warning remains in effect until Wednesday afternoon for the Skokomish River near Potlatch.

A five-mile section of U.S. Highway 101 was closed by flooding and mudslides Monday night near Hoodsport. A state Transportation Department spokesperson says it reopened late Tuesday afternoon.

Some high winds reported during the storm by the Weather Service: Hoquiam 70 mph, Bellingham 58 mph, Everett 46 mph, Bremerton 39 mph, Sea-Tac Airport 35, Olympia 36.
