KENNEWICK, Wash. - The City of Kennewick is working with neighbors to plan for a more sustainable community where people can live, work and play. City planners met with Kennewick residents tonight to help brainstorm for the Bridge to Bridge/River to Railroad area. The area is along Columbia Drive between the Cable and Blue bridges.
During the brainstorming session people gave their opinion on what they would like to see done. Some ideas include boat docks on the bank, a pier made for fishing, high rise buildings and a better night life. The city will take these ideas and construct a general plan. Their main goal is to help improve the commercial and residential neighborhoods along Columbia Drive.
"I think it's a great place to start. We need these conversations. I think the people that are presenting are doing a great job of trying to get everyone involved and I think it will help them to come up with a good plan," said Debbie Curtis, Kennewick resident.
The city has already had seven neighborhood workshops. The next step is to meet with consultants to draft a general plan. If you are interested in helping draft the plan log onto the City of Kennewick website.
