AUTOPSY RESULTS: Pasco man found dead in his home

PASCO, Wash. -- UPDATE 12/1: An autopsy performed on the 65-year-old Carlos Carmona shows he died from a single stab wound to the chest.

Police are not calling this a homicide, nor are they calling it accidental.

After speaking with Carmona's wife today, here's what she thinks happened:

Last Friday, she found her husband in the basement at the bottom of the stairs with a stab wound near his heart and a kitchen knife on his shoulder.

She thinks he was trying to cut linoleum when he slipped on the stairs and stabbed himself, but she says friends saw a man on their property that day. Police say the possibility he was murdered is still out there.

Carmona's wife does not suspect foul play. She says he worked alone at his auto body shop, and believes this was all a tragic accident.

The Franklin County Coroner says Carlos Carmona died from a single stab wound to the chest. Pasco police are investigating his death.

Carmona and his wife, Carol, owned an auto shop in Pasco called Ace Auto Repair, and those who knew him say he was a great businessman and an even better neighbor and friend.

"We're going to miss him," Carlos' neighbor Bob Noonan said. "It's a terrible surprise when somebody dies suddenly, especially in this case because the man seemed to be in perfect health."
