YAKIMA, Wash.- Good Samaritans are the first to respond to the scene of a fiery Four car collision in Yakima.
The orange markings on the ground show where the accident occurred. It was just near that bus stop on Summitview Road near Cowiche where a car caught on fire and luckily, there was a family nearby able to help.
Washington State Troopers say 28-year-old Mario Zarinarra was driving drunk when he crossed the center lane on Summitview Road. He hit a pick up truck head on and his car caught fire.
This is when James Wachtel and his family came into the picture. They pulled over, ran out of their car and pulled Zarinarra out to safety.
"Firefighters and police arrived the car was totally engulfed in flames if we didn't act he would've died," said James Wachtel.
James and his family say they were just being good samaritans and doing what felt right.
The driver, Zarinarra, is in Harbor View Medical Center's intensive care burn unit in serious condition.
The three people in the truck were taken to Yakima Memorial Hospital. Two were released and the other is in good condition.
State Troopers are still investigating the cause of this accident.
