Hanford Vit Plant workers collect toys & cash for Toys for Tots

NEAR RICHLAND, Wash.--  The U.S. Marines visited Hanford's Vitrification Plant Wednesday to get a huge Toys for Tots donation.  Over the past month, 1,500 Vit Plant, Bechtel, and URS workers have been collecting toys and cash.  They collected 2,000 toys and $6,000 cash to donate.

The Vit Plant Construction Manager, Dave Leeth, says it was easy to get all those donations.  He explains, "We just got some really great people.  They're all out here, willing to contribute and help.  Along with building this plant, they're willing to help the community."

Major Jared Duff accepted the toy donations on behalf of the U.S. Marines and was very thankful for what all the Vit Plant workers were able to collect.  He says, "The generosity of the members of this company is extremely commendable and very heart-lifting.  It's definitely what I believe the holiday spirit to be.  A lot of kids are going to benefit from this."

This is the third year Vit Plant workers have collected Toys for Tots.  Leeth says this is the most toys and cash they have ever been able to raise.
