MATTAWA, Wash. (AP) - A Mattawa man has been arrested in Sunnyside in connection with a triple homicide in central Washington.
In a statement, Sunnyside police said law enforcement agencies in the Yakima Valley worked together to arrest J. Guadalupe Martinez-Lopez, 24, on Tuesday evening at a restaurant.
Officers were investigating a convenience store robbery when they learned the suspect was believed to be traveling with a group of people. Police located the group at a restaurant and arrested Martinez-Lopez.
Grant County Undersheriff John Turley said late Wednesday his office has taken custody of the man and he was being booked into the Grant County Jail in Ephrata for investigation of first-degree murder. Turley says no formal charges have been filed yet.
Turley says the coroner is working to identify the victims and contact their families.
