RICHLAND, Wash.-- This doesn't mean everyone counted is perpetually homeless.
It could just mean anyone who sometimes doesn't have a safe shelter to live.
Volunteers and staff with the Benton Franklin Community Action Committee tried to count all of the homeless people in our community and numbers will be sorted through after today.
With accurate numbers they can get accurate funding and more services to combat homelessness.
Last year, there were 474 homeless people in Benton and Franklin counties, down from 740 in 2007.
