Police Still Looking for Two Walla Walla Children

WALLA WALLA, Wash.- Police are still looking for two missing Walla Walla children.

A family member says the children's father hinted to his mother that he may take off with the kids, and his first chance to see them, he ran.

The Walla Walla County Prosecutor's Office filed charges against John Baugher and a warrant is out for his arrest.

Police are still looking for the 34-year-old Baugher.

This morning, his van was found stuck in the mud in rural Stevens County, but a search of the area revealed no more clues and he remains on the run.

The family gathered at the children's home Monday.  Evidence of their absence was everywhere.  Their bikes sat still in the driveway as the family pleaded for their safe return.

Mental problems had plagued him, and after his divorce, he lost custody.

During his marriage, police say they were called to the Baugher home for domestic problems, but he'd just been granted limited custody by the courts.

Now the family hopes the man they once called a good father will seek help.

"I believe in my heart that if he knew the damage he was doing to their emotional state that he wouldn't be doing it, but he doesn't realize that at this point," said Pierre Remillard, the children's great uncle and their mother's uncle.

Police say tips have been rolling in.

People have reported seeing him in Poulsbo and Portland.

Monday, they were trying to get security tapes from a store in Poulsbo where someone claimed to have spotted the group.
