Planned Parenthood Offers HPV Vaccine

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Benton Franklin Health Department and a handful of private physicians offer the vaccine for HPV in the Tri-Cities.

Planned Parenthood has announced that they will be selling the vaccine beginning June 1st at all their Eastern Washington locations.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 20-million people in the United States have HPV.  It is a sexually transmitted disease that has over 100 different strands and in some cases it can cause genital warts and cervical cancer.

The new vaccine is very controversial throughout the country but some health expert think it is vital for females.  Planned Parenthood Representative Jennifer Aalgaard said that parents should really take advantage of the vaccine.  She said it is an incredible opportunity to take control of their reproductive health.

Girls between the ages of 9 and 26 can get the vaccine.  The price at Planned Parenthood varies depending on what type of insurance you have.

Contact Planned Parenthood for more information at 509-783-5059.
