ELLENSBURG, Wash -- Rance DeWitt collects Styrofoam, chops it up and mixes it with Portland Cement -- creating a light weight, fire resistant, water proof concrete. Tom Calihan of the Hammer Training Facility wants it.
Calihan helps trains America's first responders at Hammer, building different training scenarios for fire fighters, law enforcement and the military. After seeing a story about DeWitt on KNDO, he ordered a shipment of DeWitt's ThermoRocks.
Calihan plans on using the light weight concrete slabs and blocks to build various obstacles and walls for Hammer's training facility.
"The fact they are light weight and solid," said Calihan, "makes them perfect for our training."
