HOUSTON, Tex. - The Fiesta Bowl hero will be an NFL hero one day, he has some more work to do. Jared Zabransky, the Hermiston native who quarterbacked Boise State's miracle upset of Oklahoma last year failed to make the final cuts with the Houston Texans.
He entered the final preseason game as the Texans third-string quarterback, but performed poorly in the final game. Houston decided to keep only two quarterbacks, Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels. Zabransky, will now try to sign with another team or possibly stay on the Texans practice squad and hope to be activated later in the season.
Elsewhere around the NFL, Kimo Von Oelhoffen was cut by the NY Jets Saturday, but wasn't out of work for long. The Tri-Cities resident, who owns the Kennewick sports bar Kimo's, was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday. The veteran defensive end has also played for the Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers and Jets over a fourteen-year NFL career.
