Seven Suspicious Fires Monday Night in the Yakima Valley

"This is for sure arson," says Joe Ware, a foreman at Evans Fruit Company in the West Valley, where fruit bins caught fire.  That was the first fire reported just before 11:00 Monday night.

Almost an hour later a barn on Prospect Way in Yakima burned to the ground.  Fire officials say it was a total loss.

Then at 1:30 Tuesday morning, an abandoned home in Yakima caught fire.

Around 2:25 a.m. the action moved south into Toppenish.  A home on Pleasure Lane was burned down completely.  The damage is estimated at $340,000.

A half an hour later, Sanchez Pallets on Yakima Valley Highway had a suspicious fire.  $40,000 worth of pallets were lost.

Then the sixth fire was back in the Selah area at a barn on North Wenas Road.  It burned to the ground.

As for the seventh fire, Selah fire officials just ruled a garage fire that happened earlier Monday evening suspicious.  $40,000 is the estimated damage. 

That makes seven total fires being investigated.  Nobody was hurt and investigators are still unsure they're connected.
