KENNEWICK, WA- Neither snow, slush, or freezing rain could stop drivers from making their appointed rounds Wednesday.
Workers had shovels, plows and blowers out early, removing snow from parking lots of hospitals, doctors' offices and other vital public services.
Cautious drivers crept along, sloshing and often sliding through snowy intersections.
School buses got a late start with several schools delaying classes by a couple of hours. Some rural school districts canceled classes because of heavy snow and potentially dangerous road conditions.
There were also long lines at Starbucks and other coffee shop drive-thrus, as drivers sought a jolt to stay alert or perhaps calm their nerves.
