Perhaps no one was surprised than Thunder Wellhausen himself. The young man with arguably the most unique name in the tournament scored an impressive 24 points to lead Almira-Coulee/Hartline to a commanding 50-38 victory over Moses Lake Christian on Thursday.

Wellhausen, not usually the leading scorer for the Warriors could not miss. By halftime he had 18 points, including 2-of-2 from three-point range. By the end of the game, he was 10-of 14 with six rebounds.

Derek Isaak, usually the offensive star of the team, had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Moses Lake Christian struggled to compete in the second quarter, scoring just two points. They went into halftime down 27-16. They fought back in the third, outscoring the Warriors 13-10. But Isaak and Wellhausen kept them in check the rest of the way.

Lowell Kirkwood led the Lions with 13 points. Joe Timofeyev scored 10.
