Derek Isaak set a tournament record with 44 points to lead Almira-Coulee/Hartline to a 62-58 win over Valley Christian to win the 1B state title Saturday at Spokane Arena.
Not only did he score 44 points, but 30 of those points came in the second half.
The Warriors were down by as many as 13 points in the first half. They went into halftime trailing 33-22. By then Craver Small had 14 points for the Panthers, and it looked like Valley Christian was going to run away with a state title.
ACH began the second half with new life, coming out with a full-court press defense that flustered Small and the rest of the Panthers.
Isaak broke a tournament record for most points scored in a game, with 44. The previous record was set last year by Drexler Doherty from Neah Bay. He also set the record for most field goals made (16).
