Special needs kids get pictures with the Easter Bunny
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Special needs children and their families took pictures with the Easter bunny Sunday morning at Columbia Center Mall.
The little ones were all smiles as parents passed them off to sit in the bunny's lap. The mall opened early for the event to avoid the loud noises during business hours that can be difficult for special needs children.
"[We wanted to invite] children with special needs here to the mall before the mall opened, before the crowds were here so there wasn't that excess stimulation. We wanted to give them the opportunity to see the bunny without the fountains on, without loud music," said Patricia Bardin, director of marketing for Columbia Center Mall.
This was the first year of the event and the mall plans on doing it with Santa Clause this year during the holidays.
