RICHLAND, Wash. -- A familiar face with the Richland School District says he's ready for a new challenge. Richland School Board President Rick Jansons announced Wednesday he's running for Benton County Commissioner.
He hopes to replace Leo Bowman, who announced his retirement this spring. Jansons has served as board president for 11 years, and owns two businesses. The republican says his ability to budget money is what sets him apart from his opponent, State Senator Jerome Delvin.
"I I want to make sure we have a family friendly quality of life built into our plans for the future. and that we maintain our budget so that our kids don't inherit debt," says Jansons.
Jansons says his priorities include maintaining parks for families, curbing gang activity and providing better mental health services in the county.
