Ellensburg, WASH.-- Investigators are looking into what may be a suspicious fire at a community clothing center in Ellensburg.
The center is located on the 200 block of Ruby Street adjacent to the First United Methodist Church. Firefighters rushed to the scene around 10 pm Saturday night after receiving a call from a motorist who had spotted smoke and flames.
An explosion was heard around the same time the fire started, but firefighters say the two are unrelated.
"At this time we have not ruled out that the fire was intentionally set," said Deputy Fire Chief Richard Elliott. "That'll progress over the next week or two weeks as we kind of figure out what happened."
Fortunately, firefighters were able to contain the flames to save surrounding buildings from damage.
The Kittitas County Fire Marshal will continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
