It's official. Mead's Danny Mattingly will continue to bleed blue and gold in 2013. The four-star outside linebacker has made a verbal committment to play football at Notre Dame.
Mattingly visited South Bend Tuesday on an unofficial visit. He chose Notre Dame over Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA, Washington and Washington State, where his brother played.
Mattingly played on both sides of the field for Mead. Last season, he grabbed 38 passes for 350 yards as a tight end. As a linebacker, Mattinly made 75 tackles and forced nine turnovers. Just last month, the Mead Panther was one of nine football standouts from Washington to be nominated for the 2013 U-S Army All-American Bowl.
A fun fact about Mattingly: his uncle is Los Angeles Dodgers manager and former New York Yankee Don Mattingly.
