SPOKANE, Wash. -
Britney Henry missed the Olympics by that much. The product of Lewis & Clark High threw the hammer at the U.S. Olympic trials in Beaverton, Ore. last week and barely missed earning a trip to London.
Henry finished ninth at the trials, but said during an interview with SWX she felt confident she could throw the required distance to qualify if given another chance.
"I did place higher than the last time I was at the Olympic trials," said Henry. "The last time in 2008 I placed 14th. This time I made it to the finals and placed ninth…. It was great to be part of that atmosphere."
Will she try again? Absolutely. Henry said she plans to go back and train some more, add a couple of more meets to end the season on a high note and do it all again in four years.
"Quitting is not in my vocabulary," she said. "If I end my career it will be on my terms and not on a poor performance."
