SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A man who drives Hyundai's Elantra says the car doesn't get the advertised 40 miles per gallon.
Louis Bird says since he bought his Elantra last year, he's kept a mileage log showing he barely gets 29 miles per gallon.
Hyundai defends the 40-mile-per-gallon estimate, saying it was certified by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Santa Monica-based Consumer Watchdog has joined Bird in the lawsuit, which seeks class-action status and asks for unspecified damages on behalf of California residents who bought or leased 2010 and 2011 Elantras.
