YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Yakima City Council will consider moving forward with a new route to Terrace Heights tomorrow night.
The proposal would extend East H Street through the Boise-Cascade mill site and over I-82. It would relieve some of the congestion problems on Yakima Avenue. The route would also help the city's plans for future developments on the mill site.
"It's an inaccessible area for the most part right now... Just, you know, connected by a few small residential streets and no arterials so this would really provide access so that it could become something," says Council member Sara Bristol.
If the council approves the route tomorrow night, it'll start an environmental impact study. Bristol says it'll likely take several years before they would start construction.
