Yakima, WASH.--A recent community survey showed that Randall Park is one of the most popular parks in Yakima, but one thing that isn't popular are the restrooms.
People are not happy with the state of the facilities.
The floors and stalls are worn, and the mirrors are dirty. One woman said the overall environment looked poverty laden.
But the City Parks and Recreation Manager said they don't have the money right now to build new facilities.
"Replacing the restroom here at Randall Park, it's fairly expensive," said Yakima Parks and Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson. "Even for a pre-fabricated restroom that's relatively cheap is still over $100,000 and that's a sizable amount."
Even if the city did have the funds, vandalism is a constant concern.
Maintenance crews installed a brand new toilet in the men's room one year ago, but it has already been damaged.
