YAKIMA, Wash.-- A portion of Nob Hill Boulevard in Yakima will be under construction until November.
Crews are widening the road from 49th Avenue to 64th Avenue. The city says construction will cause some delays.
When it's finished, the road will have two lanes going each way plus a middle turn lane. The improvements were needed to handle the increased traffic caused by several new stores that have opened up in the area.
"It warrants... You know... A larger road to handle all the traffic. It's really increased with Wal-Mart being put in, and you have Walgreens down there and Panda Express is going in... There's banks.... Just a lot of development out in this area," says Construction Supervisor Bruce Floyd.
The city says they hope to have the work completed by Thanksgiving. In the meantime, they say drivers should use alternate routes.
