The heat is on at Fishtrap Lake, so if you can't catch a fish you can go for a swim! (Photo: SWX)
Dave Law hit the road to check out a couple of fishing holes last week. The two places were as different from each other as you could get, but both offered decent fishing and a lot of fun.
First up: Wanapum Dam on the Columbia River in Grant County for some sockeye salmon. The runs were running 10 times higher than they were at the same time last year. The flood gates were wide open, making for a challenging fishing experience.
Dave also checked out Fishtrap Lake west of Spokane. It's a beautiful lake with decent-sized fish. The trout fishing is a little on the slow side. With water temperatures around 80 degrees, if you can't catch fish you can take a nice swim!
