YAKIMA, Wash.-- The man who was shot during a DEA drug bust in Yakima, Thursday, has been identified as Manuel Sanchez of Sunnyside.
Paperwork filed at Yakima's federal courthouse outlines a month long investigation into Sanchez that began with several smaller drug deals, ending in Thursday's shooting in the parking lot of The Home Depot on S. 1st St. in Yakima.
In the court document, agents say Sanchez sold $2,000 worth of meth to a confidential source when the DEA and Yakima police officers tried to arrest him.
He then attempted to run over the officers with his van and was shot. He was taken to a local hospital, and later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was listed in serious condition, Friday.
A second suspect was arrested during the bust, but information on that person was not available.
