Dedication ceremony for fallen soldiers

Posted: Updated:

Yakima, WASH.-- The official dedication and opening ceremony for three new buildings at the Yakima Training Center was conducted Sunday afternoon.

The Vehicle Maintenance Shop is dedicated to Army Major Alan R. Johnson, and the Armed Forces Reserve Center was built in memory of Sergeant Ross A Clevenger.

Johnson and Clevenger were both killed in 2007 during their missions in Iraq.

"Everyday that a soldier passes away and is buried and remembered, most of them they just want to be remembered by other soldiers," said Senior Sergeant Andrew Paulin. "And it's our duty to fulfill that task."

The new facilities will be used by over 230 Army Reserve and Washington Army National Guard Soldiers.

In total, the project cost $20 million.
