YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima City Manager, Tony O'Rourke is suggesting some big, organizational changes to the city council this week.
They include consolidating the city's utility and engineering departments, separating the community and economic development offices, and reassigning Yakima's emergency dispatch.
O'Rourke says the changes will better serve the city's customers.
"I think fine tune the organization so one, it is more customer, business oriented. And focus more on the strategic priorities of the community," said O'Rourke.
The city council is required to vote to either accept or reject these changes.
A study session to learn more about them is scheduled for Tuesday at 10am, in the City Council Chambers.
