Ten days into fall camp, it's obvious the Washington State defense has undergone a major makeover.

Mike Leach, the offensive mind of the program, brought in new coaches who switched things over to a 3-4 defense. That type of scheme is designed to cover schools like Oregon who feature the spread offense.

It's something entirely new to the Cougars. And it's definitely a work in progress.

"I feel we're getting a hold of the calls I the new defense well," said safety Deone Bucannon. "It's definitely different from the old defense but we're getting a hold of it."

"I like it a lot because it gets a lot of people involved," said Mike Leach of the new defense. "It changes up the angles every snap. In that defense every player is excited, he doesn't do the same thing every time. There's a lot of distribution to who's doing what, and I like it."
