KENNEWICK, Wash., -- The Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo kicked off Tuesday morning and fair officials anticipate a busy week at the fairgrounds.
This is the second year the fair will use an electronic ticketing system to better calculate the number of visitors over the 5-day period.
The fair attracts nearly 122,000 people every year and organizers hope to break that attendance mark this year.
"It's a logistical feat," says Fair Manager Lori Lancaster. "We have a lot of partners so obviously we plan for the worst and hope for the best because we have this many people out here; things can happen. We build a city that runs for a week and then it goes away."
The fair runs through Saturday, August 25th.
Tickets are available at the gate for single or multi-day passes.
