CHENEY, Wash. -

Eastern Washington is officially one week away from opening the 2012 season.

The Eagles held their final scrimmage of the fall in anticipation of next Thursday's game against Idaho at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow.

With more than half of the team's starters – particularly those on defense – sitting out, the quarterbacks completed 23 of 33 passes. They threw a combined 277 yards and rushed for 62.

"We didn't have Jeff and all those guys on defense today, so it was a little bit different tempo," said quarterback Kyle Padron. "I think up front, the offensive line did a good job and I had some guys making plays for me."

"We came out focused, we weren't joking around a lot," explained quarterback Anthony Vitto. "We just came out focused and ready to play, and that's what we did. All offenses looked good; all quarterbacks looked good."

"I saw a little bit more rhythm early from the offense," said coach Beau Baldwin. "But the defense in two scrimmages created a lot of turnovers, which has been fun to see."

The Eagles will see whether they can put the whole package together August 30 when they travel to Moscow to play the Vandals. The game will not be televised.
