Wildfires Burning Near White Salmon

WHITE SALMON, Wash. -- Two fast-moving new wildfires burning north of White Salmon in Klickitat County in the Columbia River Gorge have burned across more than 1,500 acres and threaten 30 homes.

A fire spokeswoman says that residents of those homes have been told to evacuate. Residents of another 400 homes have been warned they may have to evacuate. So far, no structures have burned.

The cause is under investigation. State Highway 141 in the area was temporarily closed.
