Yakima, WASH.--The Humane Society of Central Washington celebrated the half-way point in the ASPCA $100K challenge with a football themed pet-adoption event Saturday.
Adopted fees were reduced. Cats went for $5 and dogs were $30.
The fees include spay and neuter costs, initial vaccinations and micro-chipping.
The Humane Society adopted out over twenty animals during Saturday's event.
Volunteer Coordinator Maddie Wooten said, "We're pushing hard. It's a marathon not a sprint so we've got about six more weeks left, and we're just really thrilled with the support that we've received so far."
Currently, The Humane Society of Central Washington is ranked number nine out of 50 shelters competing in the challenge.
If they win, volunteers said the money will go towards a low cost spay and neuter clinic.
