Oregon unemployment rate rises despite adding jobs - NBC Right Now/KNDO/KNDU Tri-Cities, Yakima, WA |

PORTLAND, Ore. - Oregon's jobless rate now sits at almost 9 percent. The state Employment Department says the unemployment rate for August was 8.9% - up from 8.7% in July and 8.5% in June.

 

Despite the higher rate, Oregon gained 8,800 jobs in August. The agency says it's the sixth consecutive month that payroll employment has grown.
