Jail inmate can testify against Stuart

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash.- Franklin County prosecutors expect to start calling witnesses Wednesday in the trial of a man accused of trying to murder his mother-in-law.

Superior Court Judge Cameron Mitchell ruled Tuesday prosecutors can call to the stand a county jail inmate to testify against Todd Stuart, but Mitchell says Stuart's attorney will be able to attack the inmate's credibility and motives.

Prosecutors have charged Stuart's wife with the murder of Judy Hebert in March 2011. Tashia Stuart claims she shot her adoptive mother in self defense.
