NEAR BURBANK, Wash. - A fire on a semi pulling two trailers full of hay caused a traffic nightmare on Highway 124 Thursday morning.
Smoldering hay covered the road for hours as firefighters battled the blaze just east of Burbank. A power pole even caught fire at one point. The flames threatened crops along the highway and traffic was backed up for miles.
It began around 9:00 a.m. Pilot cars escorted traffic, one lane at a time past the fire. The highway was reopened in both directions just after 1 p.m.
