Yakima, WASH.--Kiwanis Park in Yakima has three new lighted ball fields.
The project has been in the making for 15 years, and cost around $3 million.
Funding came from the city, Yakima Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis clubs and the Yakima School District.
Kiwanis Club Members said the new fields will accommodate hundreds, if not thousands of youth baseball players.
The Chairman of Yakima Kiwanis Charitable Trust, Mike Wilson, said, "As far as the school district, this is a big problem for them. They didn't have any facilities to qualify for the "Title IX," and so this allowed them to provide that option."
The new fields will also be used for little league and women's softball.
City representatives said this project will help Kiwanis Park become a premiere sports and recreation facility.
