PASCO, Wash.-- When a missing minor report is called in, police then have a detailed questioning process to go through.
Questions about the missing minor include what they were last seen wearing or if there was something upsetting them. Dental and medical history and records are also requested so police might better identify the individual and determine whether or not there are any health concerns.
"Daily we get multiple runaway reports and each one of those has to be scrutinized by the officer individually to find out what circumstances are involved in the child's disappearance or missing status," says Sgt. Ben Majetich, Pasco Police.
Police say, runaways can also often be foster children. If a foster child is found, police contact social services. It's then decided if the child should be placed in a different home.
