YAKIMA, Wash. - The mint harvest in Adams, Grant and Yakima Counties is wrapping up for the season.
Washington makes enough mint oil each year to flavor 135 sticks of gum for every American, needless to say the state is the top producer of mint oil in the nation. Most of it is produced by a dealer near Harrah.
Washington has about 150 growers who produce 3.5 million gallons of mint oil a year. The crop is valued at $80 million.
