SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. - Drivers headed to Snoqualmie Pass in the evenings this week should expect some delays.

Back in August, the Washington State Department of Transportation blasted near the snowshed, which resulted in a huge amount of debris covering the roadway. 40 dump trucks had to work for three hours to clear I-90, and now crews are facing similar challenges.

The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews will close the pass at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, from Hyak (milepost 54) to the Price Creek Sno-Park (milepost 61). A reopening time depends on how quickly the crews can remove the debris and evaluate any damage to the highway. The DOT says drivers need to plan for more than 2 hours of added travel time.

From Monday through Wednesday, (October 1 to October 3) closures are scheduled for one hour from 6 to 7 PM. And don't forget, speed-enforcement cameras continue to monitor speeds through the 5-mile work zone on I-90. Drivers traveling above the posted speed limit of 60 mph could face a $137 fine.
