State offices to reduce energy use

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed all state offices to reduce their total building energy use by 20 percent by 2020.

Gregoire announced the executive order on Monday, saying that making state buildings more energy efficient, government costs will go down, and the buildings will become more comfortable.

The state's Department of Commerce will monitor and report on progress in implementing the executive order.
