OMAK, Wash. A wildfire
near Omak has burned two homes and threatens an Indian boarding school on the
Colville Reservation.
The spokeswoman at the
Mount Tolman Fire Center, Kathy Moses, says the homes burned overnight when the
fire jumped a road.
The fire has burned an a
outbuilding near the historic St. Mary's Mission and has burned close to the
Paschal Sherman Indian School. The school has about 300 students. Boarding
students have been evacuated and the school canceled classes Wednesday.
A state management team
is taking over the firefighting and bringing more resources.
No one has been reported hurt.
