KENNEWICK, Wash. -- He was the key note speaker at the Republican Convention in Tampa, but Thursday New Jersey Governor Chris Christie endorsed a Washington candidate for office. Republican Governor hopeful Rob McKenna got a thumbs up from one of the most popular republicans in the country.
Christie met voters at the local Republican party office and phone bank on Clearwater in Kennewick.
McKenna said he and Christie share a lot of similarities, both are attorneys and both are running in states that are primarily blue states and haven't had a Republican Governor in years.
McKenna says just like Christie, he is prepared to work with a Democratic legislature to make progress in the state.
"With the ability to work in a bipartisan matter, to work with democrats, republicans and independents just as I've done as attorney general. and as a former united states attorney, he gets it as far as the work I do as attorney general, prosecutor and top legal officer for our state," said McKenna.
Prior to the meet and greet, Christie and McKenna hosted a luncheon at the Three Rivers Convention Center. Tickets were $150 dollars, and the event was sold out.
Thursday evening, Christie traveled to Everett doing more fundraising for McKenna. Friday, Christie will go to Bozeman Montana raising money for Republican Gubernatorial candidate Rick Hill.
