Educators want to hear your thoughts on STEM programs

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Educators in Yakima want to hear your thoughts on what they should teach kids in STEM programs.

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Programs focus on teaching students real world applications for math and science and encouraging them toward careers in those fields. ESD 105 is holding these events to get feedback on how to better prepare students for jobs in our region.

"They'll be better positioned to accept better than family raise jobs here in the Valley, and the state and the region will not be as dependent upon outside labor to fill key roles," says ESD 105 STEM Coordinator Roland Young.

One of the forums is tonight at Perry Technical Institute in Yakima. There's also another on Thursday in the Sunnyside High School commons. Both events start at 6:30 and should take about 90 minutes.
